[Okay, well. Some of those may be factual statements, but... none of them is particularly comforting when Grant really doubts that Claude believes everything he's saying himself.]
Hang on
[Just a minute to excuse himself - telling Chip that Claude needs help with something and he'll be back later, which is not untrue - and then he hurries to Claude's room. He won't wait too long to tell Chip; the sooner they know, the better. But right now, he wouldn't be able to take the time needed to make it as easy as possible for them to find out. One thing at a time.]
[Chip's willingness to snitch on Grant for his own good has meant that Dimitri was, in fact, prepared for Grant's birthday, no matter how soon after Christmas it was.]
[Not that his present is anything really extravagant. They're practical things, more than anything else. One of them is a thermos with a wooden outer shell detailing an apple tree. The other is a rather classy scarf, roughly in an Ultra Ball pattern and quite comfy.]
[Dimitri tries not to make a big production of it, because he suspects Grant might not have wanted to make it as such... but he does hold his hand for a little while.]
[ Settling in at the hotel admittedly took longer than she had hoped- combine that with various busy schedules, and trying to chance upon the few people you've yet to meet and it may seem impossbile. But here she is, with a pleasant but neutral smile when they finally do come across each other. ]
You're Grant, right? Claude and Felix mentioned you and your child. My name is Lysithea von Ordelia.
[Grant gives a smile and a nod when she approaches; he'd known someone else from the others' world was going to join them soon, so after that anticipation it's just nice to finally see her in person.
...Also, her name sounds kinda familiar? He'll place that later.]
That's me; hope you got an alright impression. [He's bracing himself a little bit to be analyzed, either way, but that's just par for the course when he meets new people who already know someone close to him.] I heard you'd be on your way, but it's good to meet you properly!
Likewise. And don't worry- I've heard largely good things.
[ Admittedly, all she can do is take the man as he is- and with Claude's glowing review. If there's someone he speaks highly of, it must be for a reason and she has no need to unveil any hidden truths for herself. ...Especially not within a few minutes of actually meeting him. ]
I would have joined you all sooner, but I hardly had the funds to pay one night at the inn, and as such I chose to stay in Cherrygrove to work at the library for a few weeks. It was incredibly helpful, actually, but it's good to be with friends again.
[Is it cowardly to have this conversation over Instant Messaging? Maybe. But Sylvain feels... apprehensive about having this conversation in person. He's been wearing the guilty dog look enough lately -- he doesn't want Grant to be swayed from any emotion he might be feeling by that expression.
Goddess knew Grant Abaroa tried to cover up his own feelings enough. Funny, how Sylvain could relate to that.]
[Ooooh that lack of answer as to their status is concerning. But he guesses it's not a huge surprise, either, given his guess as to why Chip ran away to begin with.]
Okay-- yeah, I... I think I'm not too far off, just a ways behind you guys. [He's already speeding up, returning Socks to his Pokeball. Sooty should be able to keep up with him, but, uh... Socks, not so much.] I'll-- I'll catch up as soon as I can.
I wanted to talk to you about something. I mean... obviously, I wouldn't reach out otherwise. Or. I would. Because that's what boyfriends do. They... talk.
Ugh. I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't even know if I should be sitting down with you right now or doing things this way. I just... Think we should talk, is all.
That's okay - if this is as big a deal as it sounds like it might be, it might be good to do in person? But if you're more comfortable talking about it like this, we can do that.
[He can't imagine Claude would have told her anything insulting about him, and... he doubts Felix said anything too bad, but he's glad for the confirmation all the same.]
That sounds like it was a good plan! It can be pretty tough, getting here and having to suddenly figure out how to... establish yourself financially. But, I'm glad you could join up with us now and see everyone from your world again. Hopefully they can help you adapt a little further, too.
[From behind his screen, Sylvain flinches. Grant has every right to sound as irritated as he does. Sylvain would be too, if things were reversed.]
It's probably not a great talk, no. But I'm not trying to make it the worst talk, either?
Um. I guess I won't beat around the bush. I like you. I do. But I think I might have... Rushed into things in my excitement and I... Didn't really take the time to get to know you.

SOMETIME AFTER EVERYONE RECONVENES, DATE TBD, evening probably
The people I worked with at the library had been very helpful with outworlders like ourselves, thankfully, but I'm glad to be with familiar faces.
[ Admittedly, she is rather used to nobility- but hey, she also plans on removing herself from that life the moment her parents' comfortable lives are assured. May as well get used to it. ]
okay Yeah that makes sense, that's totally fair I mean not that I don't feel like you took the time but if you do feel like that it makes sense to want to stop
I'm sorry if I didn't take the time too. To get to know you I mean. I think I might have sort of put you on the spot back at the meeting and everything so that's on me
